New Technology to Improve University IT

Added: (Fri Sep 08 2006)

Birmingham, UK Sep. 8, 2006 - MiniFrame announces the release of innovative multi-user software that promises to increase the amount of work stations in university computer labs without overstretching budgets.

New multi-user software from MiniFrame may hold the solution to overcrowded and inadequate computer labs at universities and colleges. Today computer labs are often the busiest places on campus, often so much so that it can become a regular bottleneck and limit universities’ ability to offer e-learning courses. Software developer MiniFrame has developed a solution that allows universities to expand computer lab capacity without over-stretching the budget. The solution involves turning a single PC into 10 workstations consisting of a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Each work station has the same capabilities as any other PC, but runs off a single PC. The solution does not compromise performance because the average PC is much too powerful for ordinary use.

“This is a significant innovation that will allow universities to offer much improved IT facilities.” said Michael Stilger, MiniFrame UK Sales Director. “The system has already been running for 18 months at a university in Tel Aviv where it reduced the IT budget by a massive 75 %. What university would not want to achieve the same? We believe that IT facilities will become increasingly important to universities and MiniFrame makes it more than affordable to expand computer lab capacity.”
